Three Key Tips for Setting Goals

Whenever the new year rolls around, we tend to start thinking about new goals and things we want to improve on. But, sometimes, it can be tricky knowing where to start and how to stick with our new resolutions.

So, how do we make resolutions and goals that we can achieve? At Bellevue LifeSpring, we believe in the power of small actions to get big results. We encourage you to explore resolutions that align with your values and contribute to the well-being of you and your family.

Set realistic goals and start small: When we achieve small milestones, we are more likely to keep going and achieve even bigger goals. If you have a large goal, try breaking it down into smaller parts. For example, many of us have goals to save money in the New Year. Rather than setting an overwhelming savings target, set a goal to save a small, more manageable amount each week or month. Every dollar counts, and over time, these small amounts add up. As you get accustomed to saving regularly, you can gradually increase your savings to meet your ultimate goal.

Set a timeline: Alongside breaking your goals into smaller, achievable parts, setting a specific timeline for each milestone is beneficial. Timelines serve as roadmaps and help monitor your progress while also keeping you accountable throughout your journey, whatever that may be. Meeting a deadline or reaching a milestone by the set date can be incredibly satisfying. It provides a sense of accomplishment and encourages you to continue!

Celebrating successes: An important part of achieving goals is to take the time to celebrate your accomplishments, big and small. This doesn’t mean undermining your efforts (like overspending as a reward for saving) but rather acknowledging your progress in meaningful ways. Celebrating your success can look very different for everyone, but it can be something as small as sharing your success with a friend or buying your favorite coffee as a reward. Taking the time to celebrate provides recognition of your efforts and motivates you for the next steps in your journey.

Every step in your goal-setting journey, no matter how small, matters. All you have to do is start.

We hope 2024 is a year of growth and resilience for you. Bellevue LifeSpring is here to walk alongside you, offering support, resources, and a community that believes in your strength and potential. Happy New Year!
