Bellevue LifeSpring is thrilled to share that we received a $50,000 grant from the Safeway Foundation’s Nourishing Neighbors program! We are utilizing this generous grant to provide critical food support to more than 2,400 Bellevue students over summer break.
Nourishing Neighbors is a charitable program of the Safeway Foundation. This unique program aims to eradicate hunger in America by keeping food banks stocked and supporting meal distribution programs.
In 2022, the Safeway Foundation contributed more than $200 million in food and financial support. This support included over $40 million distributed to local food agencies through their Nourishing Neighbors Program in their effort to provide meals to school children, seniors, and others.
Safeway was honored with the Bellevue LifeSpring Wing Awards at our 2022 Step Up to the Plate Benefit Luncheon for their dedication and extensive investment in our Breaktime-Mealtime™ program, which helps children access breakfast and lunch food when school is not in session.
“Joining forces with Safeway and harnessing our strengths for the greater good has proven successful in preventing hunger for local kids,” shared Bellevue LifeSpring Executive Director Jennifer Fischer. “No child can thrive on an empty stomach, and there are Bellevue children that are just one crisis or unexpected bill away from experiencing hunger. Safeway’s support is helping to provide essential nutrition and ensuring that all Bellevue students have the opportunity to succeed.”
Thank you, Safeway, for your leadership and continued partnership in support of Bellevue children.
