National Charity League Students Give Back with Bellevue LifeSpring

Volunteers, who make the valuable investment of their time, are the backbone of our organization. Bellevue LifeSpring couldn’t make the impact we do for Bellevue children without the support, skills and creativity that volunteers generously provide to us.

The Emerald City Chapter of National Charity League (NCL) is a true example of what it means to give back and support community. Established in 2010, NCL brings mothers and daughters together to engage in and serve the Eastside and the greater Seattle area. So far this year alone, they have collectively served over 337 hours with Bellevue LifeSpring. Last year they volunteered an amazing 426 hours of their time!

Volunteers from NCL have helped with everything from collecting food and hygiene products for our pantry to sponsoring families through our Holiday Adopt-A-Family program. Currently, you can find them behind the scenes on Mondays and Wednesdays helping our Thrift Culture retail team organize and prepare items for purchase.  In addition to being Thrift Culture rock stars, the girls have also been a great resource when it comes to helping  make our annual fundraisers and events run smoothly.

Olivia George, one of our student volunteers, shared that volunteering with Bellevue LifeSpring makes her feel good because she is able to help make an impact for children in need in her community. Olivia shared that she is gaining important life experiences and finds it a great learning opportunity to see the behind the scenes of how a thrift shop and nonprofit operates.

NCL is passionate about and committed to three core pillars that they pass on to young women grades 7 through 12: leadership development, hands-on community service and cultural experiences. Their vision is an honorable one, focused on developing strong women leaders that will serve and impact communities for generations to come.

“As a member of the NCL for the last 7 years, my daughters and I have had the opportunity to volunteer at Bellevue LifeSpring many times,” shared NCL member Greta George. “It is so rewarding and fulfilling volunteering for an organization that is making such a huge impact on our community. We look forward to a lot more volunteering with Bellevue LifeSpring in the future.”

NCL’s involvement with Bellevue LifeSpring is a weekly reminder of the good the young people in our community are doing for each other. Their dedication is raising the bar for us all. Bellevue LifeSpring is honored to be a recipient of their generosity.
