Community Care in Action: Mini-Snack Packs and Hygiene Kits Supporting Bellevue Students

One of Bellevue LifeSpring’s top priorities is providing 4,324 Bellevue students experiencing food insecurity with the nutrition they need to succeed.

In addition to our Breaktime-Mealtime™ program, we also work to ensure Bellevue schools are stocked with snack packs for kids who didn’t have breakfast at home (and/or dinner the night before) and need a nutrition boost before, during, or after the school day.

Snack packs might be mini, but their benefits are mighty! Having access to a snack when feeling hungry can impact student’s ability to focus in the classroom and, ultimately, their academic performance. Not to mention the positive effects a nutrition boost can have on our emotional well-being.

Our Mini-Snack Pack program is 100% community driven. Individuals, volunteer groups, and businesses step up to collect donations and assemble snack packs. After the snacks are thoughtfully assembled to provide a balance of taste, nutrition, and energy, they get delivered to Bellevue schools in need.

Since the start of the 2023/2024 school year, our community has collected, packed, assembled, and delivered more than 11,000 snacks for students—incredible!

New Hygiene Kit Program

Academic success is also influenced by a student’s overall well-being. Building on our Mini-Snack Pack Program, we have introduced a new Hygiene Kit Program after hearing directly from Bellevue schools that there is a need for these items.

Hygiene kits include various travel-sized items that are essential for daily hygiene and personal care. These items include, but are not limited to, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, deodorant, and period products. Alleviating the financial burden of purchasing these necessary hygiene products assists families with allocating their resources towards other essential needs for their children.

Interested in setting up a snack or hygiene kit build and donation?

Participating in a mini-snack pack or hygiene kit build is a great way to get involved with our mission.

Together, we are not just providing snacks and hygiene products but nurturing the well-being of Bellevue’s most vulnerable children.
