Meet the Team: Persephone Smith-Donohoe

Join us in welcoming Persephone to the Bellevue LifeSpring family! Persephone is our new Human Services Administrator and will work with our team to ensure that families in Bellevue get the assistance they need in a caring and supportive way.

Originally from Oakland, California, Persephone studied Contemporary Writing and Production at Berklee College of Music. She brings a wealth of experience from her work supporting first-generation college students and volunteering with grassroots organizations that champion human rights.

In her new role, Persephone looks forward to helping families feel supported and secure, empowering children in our community to thrive. “Growing up with limited resources, I learned firsthand the impact of support and opportunity. I’m thrilled to join Bellevue LifeSpring in providing families with the resources they need to build brighter futures.”

Read along as Persephone shares a little about her journey and what inspired her to join the team.

Why is Bellevue LifeSpring’s mission meaningful to you?

Bellevue LifeSpring’s mission to uplift and support our community’s youth is meaningful to me for many reasons. I grew up in a family that experienced frequent financial difficulties and had very little access to resources. I learned that my education was an opportunity to become self-sufficient and open my future to new possibilities that wouldn’t have been available to me without it.

What do you hope to achieve in your new role?

As a Human Services Administrator, I hope to support families and children by creating an environment in which they can discover their own empowerment through education. I want families to feel loved and supported and to ease the anxiety that comes from financial hardship so children can thrive.

What does community mean to you?

Community, to me, is creating mutual relationships and a network of resources. It means caring for and being cared for by the people around you and creating a culture of generosity and kindness to the people in our circles. Without community, I never would have gotten to where I am today. Community is everything to me.

What could we find you doing outside of work?

After work and on weekends, you can find me learning a new instrument, playing soccer, belting karaoke in my living room, and cuddling with my baby chickens!

Thank you, Persephone, for sharing, and welcome to the team!
