Supporter Spotlight: Dr. Rima Abifaker-Fotoohi

Rima first became involved with Bellevue LifeSpring by joining the Kemper Freeman membership circle! After meeting the members, she was excited to become a part of the organization. She is now Chair of her circle. Rima lives in Bellevue and is the owner of local Bella Dental Care.

Supporters like Rima help Bellevue LifeSpring make an impact for Bellevue kids every day. Rima’s long-time commitment to Bellevue kids, her local ties and her generosity are all part of what makes Bellevue LifeSpring’s work possible.

We asked Rima to share a little bit about her history with Bellevue LifeSpring…

Why is it important for you to support Bellevue LifeSpring during the current COVID-19 crisis?

“This crisis has hit everyone hard, but I’m sure for many of the families Bellevue LifeSpring supports, it’s been devastating. All the challenges that they had during normal times have now been amplified.”

You recently held a food drive at your dental office, can you share why?

“After the state ordered us to close our office, I was feeling idle and anxious. I wanted to reach out to my patients and engage and I wanted to do something productive for those in need, especially during this pandemic. The food drive idea was perfect. It was easy to reach out to patients, neighbors and friends and ask them to drop off whatever they wanted to contribute. It absolutely would be something I’d do again.”

Your children also are very involved with Bellevue LifeSpring, how do they contribute?

“Both my kids got to Bellevue public schools and have volunteered for Bellevue LifeSpring. They’ve helped with fundraising events, the Holiday Adopt-A-Family program, volunteered at Thrift Culture and served on the Bellevue LifeSpring Youth Council.”

What do you think is the most important work that Bellevue LifeSpring does?

“I believe the most important work Bellevue LifeSpring does has to do with breaking the cycle of poverty and that lies in education. I love that Bellevue LifeSpring partners with the Bellevue School District to help the kids that need it the most.”

What does community mean to you?

“A community has many functioning parts. All the people who make those parts work are important to the stability and prosperity of the community. We should all work towards ensuring that everyone in our community is thriving and that all our kids have educational and occupational opportunities. It’s important for me to give back to my community. Bellevue and its residents have given my family and me a wonderful livelihood.”

Thank you for your commitment to Bellevue LifeSpring, Rima. We are grateful to you and your daughters for your energy, time and support. Learn how you can make a difference with Bellevue LifeSpring here.
