Give Where You Live: Amazon Continues Their Fight Against Poverty in Bellevue

Amazon is a Local Legend partner in our Give Where You Live campaign! Amazon’s transformative partnership with Bellevue LifeSpring has helped students thrive this year.

“Amazon is committed to supporting children and their families to help meet basic needs during these challenging times,” shared Bettina Stix, Director of Right Now Needs and Disaster Relief for Amazon. “Through our partnership and shared commitment with community organizations like Bellevue LifeSpring, we are increasing access to food, shelter, clothing, and more. We look forward to continuing the partnership with Bellevue LifeSpring to fulfill our longstanding support for the Puget Sound region.”

Amazon has invested $1.4 million over two years to establish Bellevue’s first Right Now Needs Fund. Through this fund, Amazon is helping meet the basic needs of local students and their families. The Right Now Needs Fund eliminates barriers to learning and helps ensure that thousands of Bellevue’s most vulnerable students have the necessities they need to succeed at school amid the pandemic.

Since the fall of 2020, our partnership with Amazon is bridging the gap between our funding and the growing needs of local students. Recently, this partnership has been critical to preventing eviction for Bellevue families. When our current budget could not meet the need, the Right Now Needs Fund helped prevent homelessness for over 100 children since January 2021.

Amazon is also supporting Bellevue children by donating and delivering thousands of essential goods such as food, household supplies, and hygiene items for distribution to Bellevue School District students and their families.

COVID-19 has made this year incredibly difficult for families in need. Our partnership with Amazon is fundamental to achieving our goal of preventing hunger and homelessness for Bellevue children. We are grateful for the leadership of Amazon and their commitment to Bellevue children and their families.

Together, we are building a stronger Bellevue. When we give where we live, we all benefit.
