Sophia has spent her career developing innovative therapies as both a researcher and a regulatory professional in the life sciences industry, most recently as Senior Director, Regulatory Affairs at Chinook Therapeutics, a Novartis Company, where she led health authority interactions to launch a global Phase 3 clinical study in kidney disease. Prior to her work at Chinook, Sophia held various roles at Amgen, Gilead Sciences, and Kite Pharma with the goal of bringing medicines to patients.
Her passion for community building led her to serve on the Board of Directors of the Seattle Chapter of Women In Bio for 6 years, including 1 term as the Board Chapter Chair, where she led the development of programs to support the career aspirations of all women in the life sciences from their first job to their last job and programs to encourage STEM careers for middle and high school girls. Having lived in Bellevue for over 10 years with a son in the Bellevue School District, she is committed to supporting programs that support the health and well-being of children and families and has served on the PTA boards of both Woodridge Elementary School and Chinook Middle School. Sophia is excited to expand her work with the families of Bellevue at Bellevue LifeSpring.
