At Bellevue LifeSpring, we believe that with the right support, families can define what success looks like for them and then build a real path to get there. That’s exactly what our Family Support Program is designed to do.
The program provides one-on-one guidance and tailored support to help families achieve goals that foster long-term stability and self-sufficiency. Whether that means securing stable housing, landing a new job, completing school, or strengthening financial health, Bellevue LifeSpring Family Support Administrators work closely with each family to create a personalized plan rooted in their own vision of success.
The story below is a powerful example of what sustained, individualized support can make possible.
Meet Karina
Karina, a graduate of our Family Support Program, joined the program looking for something she hadn’t had in years: a sense of independence. After 16 years of dedicating herself to raising her children and caring for her home, Karina was ready to step into a new chapter and provide greater stability for her family. Today, at 57, she’s living it
Landing her first job in the U.S.
One of Karina’s first goals through the program was finding employment. With support from her Family Support Administrator, Amabely Gonzalez, she worked hard on job-readiness skills, such as building her resume, navigating the job application process, and practicing for interviews.
This guidance and Karina’s preparation paid off. She landed her first job here in the United States, working part-time as a Kitchen Assistant with the Bellevue School District. Karina excelled in her new role and was offered a full-time position and a pay increase.

“Karina’s journey is a wonderful example of perseverance and personal growth,” shared Amabely. “She has embraced every opportunity to learn, develop new skills, and work toward her goals with courage and commitment. Seeing her transition from being out of the workforce for many years to securing full-time employment and building financial independence has been one of the most rewarding experiences.”
Employment wasn’t the only milestone. Karina also opened her first credit card, began managing her own finances, and created a plan to cover her basic needs and contribute to her household. It’s a shift that represents a new sense of agency and support for Karina and her family.
Building skills and opening doors
Karina has approached her personal growth with the same determination. She completed ESL classes through the library and continues studying English independently. She’s also been developing her computer literacy skills through self-directed learning.
And with a connection made through the program, she is now studying for her citizenship exam, a step toward full citizenship after many years as a green card holder.
Karina shared that she feels more confident and independent than ever. And her progress isn’t hers alone; by showing her children what’s possible with support and determination, she’s helping shape a stronger, more stable future for them.
Her journey reflects exactly what the Family Support Program is designed to do: walk alongside parents as they create solutions to build a stable, self-sufficient household.
“At a time when finding employment can be challenging and when the cost of living continues to rise, many families in our community are working hard to make ends meet. For low-income families, the need for additional income and stability is often urgent,” shared Amabely.
“With the right support and opportunities, families can achieve goals they may previously have considered out of reach. Every family deserves to feel seen, valued, and supported, not defined by their circumstances. Karina’s accomplishments are a reflection of her hard work and resilience, but they also demonstrate what is possible when people are given the encouragement, resources, and respect they deserve.”
