After being asked to leave a shared home in Bellevue, Raul, Katy, and their two children suddenly found themselves without a stable place to call home and faced the difficult experience of sleeping in their car.
During this time, Raul continued working to support the family, but Katy struggled to find employment without a permanent address. With limited resources and no place to stay, every day brought new challenges for the family.
A turning point came when a trusted community partner referred the family to Bellevue LifeSpring. When they arrived at the Bellevue Family Hub, our team got to work immediately to help the family take their next steps toward stability.
Raul and Katy were provided with low-income housing options and directly connected with a landlord. Once a new apartment was found, the family received support from our emergency assistance program to cover move-in costs, removing a significant financial barrier that often prevents families from securing long-term housing.
Through our community’s generosity and coordinated support, Juan, Katy, and their kids have moved in and now have a stable place to call home. A motel stay was also arranged so the family could get a break from sleeping in the car while their final move-in details were confirmed.
Raul and Katy shared that today, their children are attending school, Raul is still working, and with housing secured, Katy is now pursuing new job opportunities.
This family’s experience is not unique. Across Bellevue, more families are experiencing both housing insecurity and job instability at the same time. We often see parents setting employment goals to achieve long-term housing stability, but it can be nearly impossible to pursue those goals while living in crisis.
Our community’s generosity helps bridge that gap and can provide families like Raul and Katy’s the support they need to break the cycle of poverty.
Invest in our mission today and help prevent homelessness for Bellevue children.
