Meet the Team: Gannon Oberhauser

Join us in welcoming Gannon, our new Events and Community Engagement Associate, to Bellevue! Gannon, originally from Cedar Falls, Iowa, brings along great experience from his previous work at the Northeast Iowa Food Bank.

In his new role with Bellevue LifeSpring, Gannon will work to foster connections and create impactful experiences hand in hand with you—our neighbors, volunteers, donors, and corporate partners.

“I realized through my work that I could make a difference in my community, which led me to focus on human services, food banking, and now working with the community of Bellevue! I’m excited to join an organization like Bellevue LifeSpring that provides support and opportunities to families, ensuring children have access to the essentials they need to thrive.”

We are thrilled to have Gannon join our team at Bellevue LifeSpring. Read along as he shares a little about his journey and what inspired him to join the team.

Why is our mission meaningful to you?

I have been very fortunate in my life to receive an amazing education, and accessing services was never a concern for me. Through my personal and professional experiences, I have come to understand the gaps that separate individuals from necessary resources, whether financial or circumstantial. My experience going through the education system was incredibly welcoming and stress-free, and it should be that way for everyone.

What do you hope to achieve in your new role?

In this new role, I aim to foster meaningful relationships with both new and current members of the Bellevue community. I’ve come to learn how deeply rooted Bellevue LifeSpring is in the community, and I look forward to contributing to bringing self-sufficiency and empowerment to the children we support. I’m excited to play a part in expanding our reach and deepening our impact.

What does community mean to you?

To me, community is the foundation of well-being. It’s about finding a sense of belonging and building relationships that last a lifetime. As a queer person growing up in Iowa, it was sometimes difficult to express myself or connect with others due to unshared experiences or biases. Moving to Seattle, I’ve found opportunities to discover new communities that resonate with me.

In my work at Bellevue LifeSpring, I want to help bridge gaps and contribute to building a stronger Bellevue community. This means creating trust and understanding, which I believe is essential for meaningful support.

What could we find you doing outside of your work at Bellevue LifeSpring?

Outside of work, you can often find me enjoying a delicious iced americano at any café in town! I love reading, journaling, and watching RuPaul’s Drag Race. I’m also excited to explore the outdoors here before the rainy season hits!

Thank you, Gannon, for sharing, and welcome to the team!
