After a difficult divorce, Elif* came to Bellevue LifeSpring determined to rebuild stability for herself and her children.
As a mother of children attending Bellevue School District, Elif has faced the everyday challenges of providing for her family while working to establish a new chapter in her life.
Over time, Bellevue LifeSpring has been there to help her navigate some of those challenges, from meeting immediate needs to supporting her longer-term goals.
Elif first received back-to-school clothing support through our Clothes-4-Kids program for her children, helping them start the school year with the clothing and essentials they needed to feel confident and ready to learn.
When Elif faced financial hardship, Bellevue LifeSpring also provided rental assistance, helping her maintain stable housing for her family. Then, when her apartment flooded and sustained damage, Bellevue LifeSpring helped cover some of the unexpected costs, providing support during an already difficult time.
Today, Elif is receiving ongoing guidance through Bellevue LifeSpring’s Family Support Program, where she is working toward greater financial independence and stability.
Rebuilding a Career
As part of the Family Support Program, one of Elif’s goals was to expand her work opportunities in the medical field. Before her family relocated to the United States, Elif earned her medical degree and worked as a doctor. She wanted to build on her medical knowledge and experience while creating greater financial stability for her family.
One step toward that goal was completing the certification exams to become a medical interpreter. Bellevue LifeSpring was able to help cover the cost of the exams, removing a financial barrier and helping Elif move closer to her goal.
Today, Elif is working as a medical interpreter, using her medical knowledge and language skills to support patients while bringing in more income for her family.
“Elif has worked incredibly hard to rebuild her career and create stability for her family. She had the determination and goals; she just needed someone in her corner to provide encouragement, guidance, and support along the way,” shared Ruby, Elif’s Family Support Administrator. “It has been really rewarding to see her take those steps, work toward her goals, and create a more stable future for her children.”

Elif’s story shows that stability isn’t always built all at once. Sometimes, it means having help with school clothes so your children can start the year prepared. Sometimes, it means keeping a roof over your family’s head or having support when an unexpected emergency disrupts your life.
And sometimes, it means having someone in your corner as you work toward a goal that can change your family’s future.
For Elif, that goal was returning to the medical field. With her certification renewed and a new job in the medical system, she is building on the skills and experience she brought with her and creating greater financial stability for her family.
