We are thrilled to introduce you to the newest member of the Bellevue LifeSpring Human Services team, Gloria Nakroshis.
Gloria will be working directly with Bellevue families to help get them the assistance they need. She joins our team with over 14 years of experience in the Human Services field and deep compassion for helping others.
Check out this Q&A to get to know Gloria:
Hi Gloria! Tell us a bit about yourself and how you ended up in the non-profit field.
After many years of being a stay-at-home mom and full-time nanny, I decided to go back to school and get my bachelor’s degree. I found the Human Development program at Washington State University, and I felt like it would be a good fit for me and utilize my strengths. I have been working in social services for nearly 15 years now, and I love it.
I have two adult sons who are my heart and a rambunctious cat named Salem. I love music, reading, and playing board games with friends. I love trivia and movie quotes. I am proud to be a font of useless information.
What drew you to Bellevue LifeSpring, and what inspired you to get involved with this kind of work?
What drew me to Bellevue LifeSpring is the close relationship we have with the Bellevue School District. I believe that one of the best ways to break the cycle of poverty is to help families with children get the support they need so the kids can prosper in school.
Having grown up with periodic food insecurity and housing instability, I have a good understanding of what our Bellevue LifeSpring clients may be experiencing and how stressful it is. My lived experience, empathy, and education come together to provide a positive encounter for families in need. Helping our families look beyond the current moment and realize their strengths is what I strive to do, and I’m hopeful it makes a difference.
What are you most excited about getting started in your new role?
I am excited to get to know everyone on this wonderful team and make positive contributions. I am also excited to get to know the families and the network of folks we work with to support them.
What does community mean to you?
Community to me is a group of people living, working, and playing together. Community is supporting one another to make life good for everyone!
Thanks for sharing, Gloria. We are so glad that Gloria is here and a part of our team!
